EOLAS & Microsoft Kiss & Make Up

MS licenses EOLAS code, announces plans to drop 'click to activate' hack for all IE 7 users in an April 2008 update.

No word yet on whether Microsoft will also remove the hack from IE 6. An optional 'preview release' will be posted next month for developer testing.

It's live: The IE Automatic Component Activation (IE ACA) update is now available as part of the April 2008 Internet Explorer Cumulative Update. The "click to activate" behavior, formerly required for ActiveX controls embedded in some webpages, is now permanently removed from Internet Explorer.
